Her Interview
Ten minutes with Andie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would have to say my dad and my sister. He is a project manager with no education - he dropped out of high school - and he motivated me to be a go-getter, to be successful in any field that I want to be in. My sister is younger than me and introduced the industry when she was going to technical school for plumbing. Now she is a successful Commercial Estimator for a HVAC firm in Denver, CO. I chose construction because that's what my dad and sister do, so they inspired me and was a huge influence. I have no brothers, so the construction industry is in our blood.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be a go-getter and stay motivated to succeed in any field, a lesson my father instilled in me early on.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would definitely say to keep open-minded and learn as much as we possibly can from all the resources.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The construction industry remains male-dominated, presenting challenges for women seeking leadership roles. However, increasing participation, strong mentorship, networking, and high-profile projects like the upcoming children's hospital in Nevada create significant opportunities for growth and impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both work and life are family, marriage, faith and prayer, mentorship, and cultivating strong, meaningful relationships.
