Her Interview
Ten minutes with Andrea
01What do you attribute your success to?
I kind of give it to my parents to be honest my dad was kind of a workaholic and so he put a lot of effort into like work came first kind of and then from my mom I kind of learned to just put in as much effort as you can.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Even if you are feeling like you can only give 70% of your work ethic or your morale or your physical ability to do something I still want you to do put in 100% effort into that 70%.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
FedEx is predominantly male-oriented and the women that do come in I feel or I have noticed that they are overwhelmed frustrated. ... one of the encouraging things that we try and do for one another is to even if we have to work together on lifting a box or unloading a trailer that we can just come together and just do it naturally without ever feeling like we're in competition.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The hardest part is to keep up with supply and demand. ... when you are like just processing an overabundance of mail like say 50,000 packages in a single day that's very overwhelming just to consider like that volume at when we're like short-handed
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would have to say like duty. So for in my personal life I like to believe that you know my fam like I always believe my family comes first so my duty to my children to my family to my husband. ... duty to the next level in my professional life where I always feel like I have to perform as well or more than what is expected.
