Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my determination, resilience, and strong internal motivation, as well as the support of my mother and a community that has encouraged my growth. Embracing a growth mindset, self-compassion, and gratitude has helped me rebuild my life after taking a break from school to overcome substance abuse, which gave me a renewed sense of purpose. Now, nearly 40, I am focused on building a life of impact and service as I pursue a master’s degree in psychology, run my e-commerce business Listing Lens Studio, and work as a brand ambassador to support my studies at Texas A&M, with the goal of using my experiences to help and inspire others.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to seek out workplaces that provide structure and stability, and to prioritize environments that are understanding and supportive of mental health and overall well-being. This guidance has helped me make more intentional career choices that align with both professional success and personal balance.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering my industry to adopt a strong “can-do” mindset and trust in their ability to succeed. It is important to set clear, intentional goals to stay focused, motivated, and aligned with your long-term vision. By combining confidence with purpose and consistency, you can create meaningful progress and build a fulfilling career.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

She recognizes that one of the biggest challenges in her field is entering a competitive job market with evolving expectations and limited experience. At the same time, she sees this as an opportunity to leverage fresh perspectives, adaptability, and a strong willingness to learn in order to stand out, grow quickly, and build a meaningful career.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I place great importance on family, which serves as the foundation of both my personal and professional life. I am guided by values such as self-compassion, gratitude, and grace, which help me navigate challenges and continue growing. Mindfulness, compassion, and integrity are central to how I engage with others and approach my work, while accountability, loyalty, and authenticity remain essential in all areas of my life. Giving back to the community is also a core part of my purpose, and I actively volunteer with Community Pain Networks through my school, as well as with St. Louis County Parks and Recreation and the Affton White-Rodgers Community Center.
