Her Interview
Ten minutes with Andrea
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the support of my husband, who has believed in me and my goals since we were teenagers. I also believe strongly in investing in myself, building a strong professional network, and never being afraid to reach out, ask questions, and learn from others.
Confidence has also played an important role in my career. I am comfortable putting myself in rooms with industry leaders, introducing myself, having conversations, and learning from people who have achieved things I aspire to accomplish. I remain curious and am never afraid to ask someone, “How did you get here?” That curiosity has helped me continue to grow throughout my career.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to lead with confidence, remain ambitious, and maintain a high level of integrity. Be authentic and never compromise who you are to fit into someone else’s expectations.
It is also important to speak your mind, ask for what you want, and advocate for yourself. Do not be afraid to make the decision that is ultimately best for you and your career. Your voice and your goals matter.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Social media has become a valuable tool in retail, but it has also contributed to a shift in the people aspect of the business. Working with both teams and clients can be incredibly rewarding, but customer expectations and the definition of service continue to evolve.
Today, retail professionals have to listen more closely to their guests and demonstrate a higher level of emotional intelligence and clienteling. Understanding what customers need and creating meaningful experiences are increasingly important. At the same time, professionals who genuinely enjoy working with people and are committed to continually developing their skills have an opportunity to stand out and build stronger relationships.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My children are my biggest motivators. I became a parent at a young age and continued pursuing my education and career while raising my family. Today, I have four children, and I use them as motivation and momentum to be an example for them.
I want to show my children that it is possible to pursue your goals, continue growing, and create a fulfilling career while being present for your family. Being an example to them and demonstrating that you can have it all in your own way is one of the strongest sources of motivation in my life.
