Andrea Woodworth
Andrea Woodworth is a healthcare sales professional with more than 17 years of experience at Cigna Healthcare, where she has built a career centered on client relationships, innovative employee benefits strategies, and health engagement solutions. Joining the company directly after graduating from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, she quickly established herself as a rising leader within the healthcare and employee benefits industry. Today, she specializes in serving mid-size employer groups with fewer than 500 employees, helping brokers and businesses develop creative self-funded healthcare solutions that improve employee wellness while supporting long-term organizational goals.
Throughout her career, Woodworth has become known for her consultative approach, strong relationship-building skills, and ability to connect employers with meaningful healthcare strategies tailored to their workforce needs. Her daily work involves collaborating closely with brokers, employers, and internal teams to identify practical and forward-thinking solutions in an increasingly complex healthcare landscape. She completed both Cigna’s highly regarded sales training program for college graduates and the company’s management training program, experiences that helped shape her leadership style and deep understanding of the industry. In a full-circle career milestone, she now returns to the same sales training program as an instructor, mentoring and developing the next generation of healthcare sales professionals.
Woodworth’s accomplishments have earned her consistent recognition across the organization, including qualifying for Cigna’s prestigious Gold Circle honor — awarded to the top 20 percent of sales leaders nationally — nine times during her tenure. She also serves as a member of the Gold Circle Cabinet, acting as a liaison between the sales organization and executive leadership. Beyond her professional achievements, she is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and empowering women in business, encouraging young professionals to “lean in” confidently and claim their place at the table. Known for leading with integrity and maintaining a genuine passion for the people she works with, Woodworth continues to make a meaningful impact in healthcare sales while helping employers create healthier, more engaged workplaces.

What do you attribute your success to?
I would say it's probably because I genuinely really love what I do as my career and the people that I get to do it with. That genuine passion for my work and the relationships I've built with my colleagues has been the foundation of whatever success I've achieved.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received came from the world of sales: when things are good, stay humble because you're not as good as you feel like you are, but when things are bad, you're also not as bad as you feel like you are. This perspective has helped me maintain balance and keep things in perspective throughout my career, especially in a field where results can fluctuate.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say don't be afraid to lean in and stop apologizing. You have every right to be at the table as everybody else around there. Too often, women feel like they need to apologize for their presence or their contributions, but that needs to stop. You belong there just as much as anyone else.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say the biggest challenges right now are the rising cost of healthcare and the greater need for employers to have true consultants surrounding them. Healthcare costs continue to climb, and employers are looking for more than just insurance providers - they need real partners who can guide them through complex decisions and help them find creative solutions that work for their specific situations.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say always leading with integrity. That's the foundation of everything I do, both professionally and personally. It guides how I interact with clients, colleagues, and everyone in my life.
