About Andria

Andria Carter is a seasoned communications and community engagement professional, journalist, and entrepreneur based in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is the owner of YTY Consulting Solutions, LLC, a journalism consulting firm that provides expertise in communications, content development, community engagement, and connecting individuals and organizations with resources. She currently serves as a Community Engagement Specialist at the Community Police Partnering Center, where she works with community stakeholders to support problem-solving initiatives, strengthen neighborhood relationships, and promote strategies focused on addressing crime and community concerns. Her career reflects approximately a decade of focused experience in communications and community engagement, complemented by a broader professional background in journalism and media.

Carter began her career in journalism, working as a reporter, editor, and newsroom leader for newspapers across the country. She later served as Managing Content Editor at the Abilene Reporter-News, where she oversaw digital and print content, supervised newsroom operations, coordinated assignments, and supported multimedia storytelling and audience engagement. During her tenure, she became the publication's first Black managing content editor, first Black woman to serve in a management role, first woman to hold a management position, and first Black professional to hold a top executive management position, according to her professional account. Her subsequent communications leadership roles included serving as Communications Director for The Center for Closing the Health Gap and Communications Director for the Office of President Pro Tem Yvette Simpson, where she developed strategic messaging, digital and traditional communications, media materials, executive communications, and community outreach initiatives.

A graduate of Central State University with a B.A. in Communications/Journalism, Carter has continued to apply her journalism background to community-centered communications and problem-solving. She also pursued an MBA through the University of Maryland Global Campus. In addition to her professional responsibilities, she has been involved with organizations focused on neighborhood investment and community partnerships, including serving on the boards of Invest in Neighborhoods and the Faith and Community Alliance. She has also worked in freelance reporting and media consulting, helping organizations create effective content for websites, blogs, social media, and other platforms. Across her work, Carter emphasizes the importance of sharing accurate information, building meaningful connections, engaging diverse audiences, and helping communities identify resources and solutions to local challenges.
