Anel Santiago

I've been in the mortgage industry for over 20 years, starting at a very young age before the 2008 crash. I've been with DHI Mortgage, the financial services side of D.R. Horton (the number one home builder in the United States), for almost 11 years. I started as a loan processor for the Austin branch for my first 2 years, and the bulk of my tenure has been in the national training department out of the corporate office. As a National Trainer 3, I train a wide range of people across different roles and departments, including new hires, loan officers, loan processors, and leaders. I work very closely with developing and training new leaders. We're currently transitioning our live training into on-demand trainings, where I'm creating interactive lessons to engage learners in a virtual space. We offer a hybrid approach with in-person training, live virtual presentations through Zoom, and self-paced on-demand lessons. I roll out new systems when we partner with new vendors, such as mortgage systems like Encompass, and manage enhancements like the recent Encompass Partner Connect platform, which helps connect other vendors we use such as DataVerify and mortgage insurance companies. I love where I work and that I'm able to collaborate with all departments, from marketing to compliance to product development and production. I recently became elected as vice president of WIMIN (Women in Mortgage Industry Network) for the Austin location, where we hold quarterly luncheons and happy hour pop-ups, bringing in speakers from all different walks of life to inspire women in finance.
