What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to my children, who motivate me every day to work hard, stay focused, and lead by example. They remind me why perseverance, integrity, and dedication matter—not just in my career, but in the legacy I hope to leave for them. I’m also deeply grateful for the guidance and support of Randall Mora, CEO of Avum Inc., whose mentorship and belief in my abilities have played a meaningful role in my professional growth and leadership journey. Together, these personal and professional influences continue to inspire me to keep learning, improving, and striving for excellence.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received has come from leaders and mentors who genuinely believed in my potential and encouraged me to keep pushing forward. Randall Mora, CEO of Avum Inc., has been an incredible guide—consistently supportive, invested in my growth, and generous with his leadership and perspective throughout my career journey. I’m also deeply grateful for my best friend and fellow HR professional, Makenzie Dyer, who keeps me grounded, challenges me with honesty, and reminds me that success is not just about hard work, but also about enjoying the journey along the way—even if that sometimes includes karaoke.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering this industry to never underestimate their value or question whether they belong. Early in my career, my CEO Patrick Kenny shared a piece of advice that stayed with me: what often looks like a superiority complex is actually an inferiority complex. That perspective changed how I approached male-dominated rooms and reminded me not to internalize someone else’s insecurity as my own doubt. Put your best foot forward, trust your abilities, and remember that you have earned your seat at the table just as much as anyone else. Confidence grows when you stop waiting for permission and start recognizing the value you already bring.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in human resources right now is navigating the rapid transformation of work itself. Technology, particularly AI, is reshaping how organizations recruit, develop, and manage talent. HR leaders are being asked to help companies adopt these technologies responsibly while ensuring employees are equipped with the skills needed to succeed in an evolving workplace.
At the same time, organizations are facing a growing skills gap. As roles change quickly due to automation and new technologies, companies must continuously reskill and upskill their workforce. Many organizations are shifting toward skills-based hiring and development, focusing more on what people can do rather than just their degrees or job titles.
Another significant challenge is balancing business performance with employee wellbeing and engagement. Burnout, evolving employee expectations, and hybrid or remote work environments have changed what employees need from their employers. HR leaders now play a central role in shaping culture, maintaining engagement, and ensuring organizations remain adaptable and resilient during constant change.
Ultimately, the opportunity for HR is to move beyond traditional administrative roles and become a truly strategic function—helping organizations align people strategy with business goals while building workplaces that are both high-performing and human-centered.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are connection, balance, and joy. I believe strong relationships—whether with colleagues, friends, or family—are essential to staying grounded and effective. When people feel genuinely connected, collaboration and trust naturally follow. I also believe balance is critical for long-term success; making time for laughter, music, and being outdoors helps me recharge and stay present. Those moments of joy allow me to bring my best energy, perspective, and authenticity to everything I do.
