Ten minutes with Angela
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to focusing on the positives—especially the relationships built through this work—and truly enjoying the challenges that come with it. Early on, I realized I wasn’t suited for a role that felt repetitive or monotonous. I thrive in an environment where every day is different, where I’m constantly learning, adapting, and problem-solving.
What I love most about this career is the variety. One day I’m networking and building connections, the next I’m reviewing files and structuring solutions for clients. I’ve learned to appreciate that diversity rather than feel overwhelmed by it, and that mindset has made all the difference.
This career has also given me the flexibility to create the life I wanted. As a single mom, I was able to raise my son while building my business at the same time. That balance—being present for my family while continuing to grow professionally—is something I’m incredibly grateful for and a big part of what drives me today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most impactful advice I’ve received is to control what you can, release what you can’t, and lead with gratitude. That philosophy, combined with a focus on serving others and building meaningful relationships, has guided the way I do business. By consistently adding value and supporting those around me, I’ve found that growth and success naturally follow.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to recognize that your relationships are your greatest asset—protect and nurture your database with intention. When you build genuine connections, you become part of your clients’ life milestones, from their first home to many more to come, and that is where this career becomes truly meaningful.
I would also remind them to focus on what they can control. We can’t influence interest rates or external market conditions, but we can control how we show up—our consistency, our follow-up, and our attitude. That mindset builds confidence, resilience, and long-term success.
Stay grounded in your purpose, invest in your relationships, and trust that the results will follow.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The mortgage industry is currently navigating a period of significant volatility, with interest rate fluctuations driven by broader economic conditions and Federal Reserve policy. While this can create uncertainty, it also highlights the importance of experience, adaptability, and strong client guidance.
In many ways, this environment creates opportunity. Professionals who can pivot quickly, stay informed, and maintain close communication with their clients are able to provide clarity when it’s needed most. By helping clients understand their options and make strategic decisions, we can turn market challenges into opportunities for growth and long-term success.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me—both professionally and personally—are relationships, family, and gratitude. I believe that success is built on meaningful connections and a genuine appreciation for the people and opportunities in our lives.
I also value continuous growth, resilience, and the discipline of focusing on what I can control. Leading with gratitude allows me to stay grounded, navigate challenges with clarity, and show up consistently for the people I serve.
