Her Interview

Ten minutes with Angela

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've built expertise in a field that most people don't understand, so I work at the intersection of people, information, processes, technology, and organizational change. And I've seen the human side of organizational knowledge. I'm a translator between people and the information and the systems, and I think that, again, knowledge management is highly overlooked, so I'm at a point where I'm asking, what do I do with everything that I've learned?

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To young women that, we need to recognize the value of invisible work, the power of invisible work, how it's most consequential work inside of the organization that doesn't necessarily have the flashiest title, but the person who knows where everything is, the person who fixes broken processes, the person that everyone comes to, that's the person that can become indispensable without necessarily becoming visible. So I think that women need to recognize the value of the invisible work.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Creating adoption, so this platform launched in March, so we're about 5, 6 months in, and now moving from awareness to adoption, getting the different enabling functions to actually adopt the approach. The change management piece has been a bit of a challenge, but it's also productive.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I like to work at a company where I feel good about what I'm offering, so always value, always make sure that the work that you're doing aligns to your values, and some of my values are just integrity, honesty, and making progression.
