About Angela

Angela Escobedo is an accomplished educational administrator and career and technical education leader with over 17 years of experience in education. She currently serves as Assistant Principal of Career and Technical Education at Merrillville High School in Indiana. In this role, she oversees CTE programs, works closely with teachers, students, and industry partners including Ivy Tech and Vincennes University to offer dual credit opportunities, and facilitates in-state industry credentials such as welding certifications and CNA certifications. A key focus of her work is ensuring students gain real-world experiences that prepare them for both college and the workforce. Prior to her current position, Escobedo served as Dean of Students, where she supported student discipline, engagement, and school culture, and as department chair for World Languages for four years. She began her career teaching Spanish for nearly nine years at Lighthouse Academies before transitioning to Merrillville High School. Escobedo holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish culture and literature, a second bachelor's in Spanish Education, and a Master's in Educational Leadership. She has also studied high ability education through Ball State University and recently earned ServSafe certification. Her career reflects a deep commitment to creating opportunities that connect students to college, careers, and real-world experiences through collaboration, communication, and relationship-driven leadership. She is bilingual in Spanish and English and was recognized with the Most Influential Educator Award in 2024.
