Her Story
About Angela
Angela Haynes is a Waste Tracking Coordinator at Veolia North America, where she works in the technical receiving office supporting environmental and hazardous waste disposal operations. Her responsibilities include receiving, inspecting, documenting, and tracking incoming waste while ensuring shipments are accurately matched with manifests and other required documentation. She monitors electronic systems for discrepancies, rejected loads, quantities, and inventory information, and works closely with internal departments to coordinate the timely movement and processing of materials. Her position also requires careful attention to federal and state requirements governing the treatment, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. With a strong customer-service orientation, Haynes places equal importance on accuracy, responsiveness, communication, and maintaining positive relationships throughout the disposal process.
Before joining Veolia, Haynes developed a broad professional background through customer service, nonprofit work, victim advocacy, and automotive sales and management. As an Assistant Manager with America's CAR-MART, she was responsible for daily operations, customer relations, sales performance, financing requirements, inventory, and financial controls. Her leadership and commitment to results earned her the regional “Lot of the Month” award within her first 60 days in management, while her location ranked third in the company for monthly OCA sales during her first year. She also expanded the customer base by more than 75 customers in less than a year. Haynes has continued to invest in her professional development, earning an Agile Project Management Professional Certificate from Atlassian as well as credentials in Agile Project Management with Jira Cloud, Scrum: The Basics, and Agile Foundations. These experiences have strengthened her leadership, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and project-management capabilities.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Haynes is deeply committed to service and advocacy within her community. She previously served on the board of directors for the South Arkansas Children's Coalition and continues to contribute her time as a domestic violence advocate, providing volunteer support to individuals and families in need. She credits much of her success to the influence of her mother, whose guidance taught her to persevere, consistently give her best, and trust God with the challenges she cannot control. Those lessons continue to shape her approach to work and life. Integrity, compassion, and honesty are the values at the center of Haynes' professional and personal philosophy, guiding her interactions with others and reinforcing her commitment to doing meaningful work, serving her community, and giving her best every day.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Angela
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to my mother, who has always been my greatest supporter and source of guidance. She taught me never to give up, always put my best foot forward, give my best effort in everything I do, and trust God with the challenges I cannot control. Her encouragement and example have shaped my perseverance, work ethic, and faith, reminding me to give my best every day and leave the difficult things in God’s hands.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering my industry to seek God with all their heart, give their best every day, and trust Him to take care of the rest. I encourage them to work diligently toward their goals, maintain their faith, and never give up, even when the journey becomes difficult. No matter where life takes you or what obstacles you encounter, perseverance, faith, and a commitment to doing your best can carry you a long way.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see significant opportunities in the environmental field because hazardous waste will always be generated, creating an ongoing need for professionals who can manage, treat, and properly handle it. At the same time, there is tremendous potential to make a positive impact by helping protect, restore, and preserve the environment.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are integrity, compassion, and honesty. I strive to lead and interact with others with sincerity, treat people with kindness and understanding, and always remain true to my principles. These values guide my decisions, shape my relationships, and influence the way I approach both my work and my life.
