Her Story
About Angela
I started my career in customer service and sales at a printing company around 1999-2000 while going to school for marketing. An ad agency account led to a position there, where I spent over 10 years. I then moved to the client side as director of marketing for a healthcare recruiting company before transitioning to building direct-to-consumer programs in the supplement and pharma space. My focus is strategic, data-driven, full-funnel omni-channel marketing to drive growth and customer retention.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Angela
01What do you attribute your success to?
A lot of hard work, keeping my eyes and ears open, my mouth shut, and learning everything I can from really smart people. It's about hard work and humility, understanding that you are not the smartest person in the room, and knowing it's okay to make mistakes and learn from them.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always be a student and constantly keep learning because you don't know everything. Don't confuse effort for results. Accept the suck because things are going to be tough sometimes but hard work pays off in the long run.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Understand that you are going to fall and make mistakes, and it's okay. It's about how you recover from those mistakes that builds who you are. Always keep learning and pushing, accept the grind, and hard work does pay off. Nothing good comes easy.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The competitive landscape is much broader because consumers have so many places to find information and are less loyal. You have to stay on top of technology like social, Reddit, YouTube, streaming, and always be in their face. It's about finding the message that resonates, standing out above the noise, building trust through honesty and transparency.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, transparency, kindness, humility, and teamwork. Being kind to coworkers and direct reports, not needing to be a hard-ass to be successful. We are all trying to accomplish the same goal and can't do it alone.
