Her Story

About Angela

Angela Odaibo is a registered behavioral technician with three years of experience supporting children on the autism spectrum. In her role, she guides clients through daily routines to build independence, reduce maladaptive behaviors, and provide redirection and teaching as needed. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in biology on a pre-med track, completing her degree in three years and graduating in May 2026. Angela maintains an active RBT license and remains involved in Psi Chi, the International Psychology Honor Society, after previously participating in the African Student Organization during college. She is currently a pre-medical student planning to apply to medical school in 2028 with the goal of becoming a psychiatrist, focusing on addiction psychiatry, inspired by mental health needs observed in her Nigerian heritage. Angela attributes her success to hands-on experience working with children and seeking feedback from supervisors, and she values patience, time management, and collaboration in both her professional and personal life.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Angela

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the time I've spent working with kids, which teaches things that studying for a test can't. The experience and setting time aside to get feedback from employers and supervisors helps as well.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Work in a field where it's fulfilling, because we're going to be working for a good chunk of our life, so if you're doing what we do, is it really worth it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay focused, remember your goals. Remember why you're pursuing something, having a why, having a reason. When it gets hard, figure out your why.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value patience. I value my time a lot. Collaboration.
