Her Story
About Angela
I'm the Sage Intacct Practice Manager at LBMC, where I've been working in technology consulting for right at 12 years now. I manage the entire Sage Intacct practice, which is an ERP solution kind of similar to QuickBooks, but it's for people who've outgrown QuickBooks and need more robust capabilities. In my role, I manage the implementation team, the consulting team, and the support team. I also do a lot of business development and solution architecture work, so I really wear quite a few hats. Most of my day is spent meeting with internal executive team members here at LBMC to identify paths of growth opportunities, and also meeting with existing clients and prospects to help them identify solutions, talk through what their scalability is, and kind of what they're looking for as an overall tech stack. I help them work through that while also managing the team. I have a bachelor's degree in accounting from about 18 years ago and an associate's degree in criminal justice from about 20 years ago. I hold various certifications through SAGE, including being a certified implementation specialist and certified in their construction module. I've spoken at multiple SAGE conferences in the past, both end-user conferences and partner conferences, on different functionalities and aspects of SAGE. I've also spoken at other professional association conferences over the last couple of years in the medical field for accounting teams, basically helping them identify their financial solution.

Ten minutes with Angela
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to my parents and their strong drive to always achieve and continue learning, and to encourage others to do the same. They instilled in me the importance of constantly pushing forward, never stopping my own growth, and helping others around me to grow as well. That foundation they gave me has been instrumental in everything I've accomplished.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was to listen intently and then respond. It's basically about being an active listener before you actually start responding to people. Taking the time to really hear what someone is saying, processing it fully, and then responding thoughtfully has made such a difference in how I communicate and work with clients and colleagues. It's simple advice, but it's been incredibly powerful in my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say shoot for the stars and don't let anyone hold you back. There are so many opportunities in technology and in any field you choose, and you shouldn't let anyone or anything limit what you can achieve. Believe in yourself, set your goals high, and go after them with everything you've got. The sky's the limit if you're willing to work for it.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think technology offers all kinds of opportunity right now. The challenge is the rapid change that's continuing every single day. There's something new that's coming out constantly, so I think that's the challenge - it provides a lot of opportunity, but with such rapid change, it's hard to always get comfortable with one thing when something new has come out. You have to be constantly learning and adapting, which can be both exciting and demanding at the same time.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, integrity, and trust. These three principles guide everything I do, whether I'm working with clients, managing my team, or spending time with my family. I believe that without these core values, you can't build meaningful relationships or achieve lasting success. They're the foundation of who I am and how I approach every aspect of my life.
