Her Story
About Angela
I started my nonprofit in 2010 after being inspired by a childhood friend's experience with female genital mutilation in Liberia, West Africa. Our mission is to empower women and girls through education and eradicate gender-based violence, with a primary focus on protecting girls from FGM and rehabilitating survivors physically and psychologically. We have a support group that started in 2016 and now serves well over 100 women. My sons encouraged me to found the organization when they noticed my passion for the issue.

Ten minutes with Angela
01What do you attribute your success to?
My drive comes from the women we work with in our support group. When I see how they react or respond to the services we provide, that gives me the motivation to continue the work.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Know what your goal is, set your goal, know what you want, and stick with it no matter what. Build that passion for what you have set for yourself to accomplish, and don't stop until you accomplish it. It's not going to be an easy task, but you'll get there.
