Angela Savage

Angela Savage serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Jackson State University. She has been in her current position for her second year after transitioning from a decade-long tenure at Mississippi State University, where she started in 2012 as a field instructor and professor teaching social work practice courses while also serving as field director. In that role, she connected students with internship opportunities in social service settings and later advanced to program director, contributing to curriculum design and securing Title IVE funding for workforce initiatives in collaboration with partners such as the Bauer Foundation and Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services. Angela Savage earned her undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and her doctorate from Tulane University. Her professional focus includes social work education, field instruction, and preparing students for ethical practice using the National Association of Social Workers code of ethics. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Council on Social Work Education, and the North American Association of Educators and Directors. Among her honors are Social Worker of the Year for Mississippi, recognition as a top 10 alumnus from the University of Southern Mississippi social work program, Mississippi Educator of the Year, and former president of the National Association of Social Workers in Mississippi.
