Q

What do you attribute your success to?

From a career standpoint, what I'm most proud of is what I'm doing today. I took a leap as a single female in my 50s and haven't looked back. I'm grinding every single day. Has it always been easy? No, not at all. But I'm so proud that I'm not working for someone else. I joke around because some days I feel like I have more bosses now than I ever had before, but I've taken the leap and I'm building something on my own with my team around me. When I really look at it and think about it, whether it's in my morning during my quiet time or whatever, I'm like, man, I'm grateful. Is it scary some days? Sure. Is it tiring most days? Absolutely. But I'm so grateful that I took the chance. What I find most rewarding is hard to put into words. Closing a deal when you're doing something on your own, where it takes every bit of your grit and determination, vision, drive, and the dream that God's given you, it's just a different feeling. There's the gratitude of going, God, thank you for the gifting and the drive that you've given me. And then being able to provide jobs for other people too, you're just like, wow. It's a different satisfaction that I don't know I can put words to.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to take the risk, pursue growth relentlessly, seek out supportive women mentors and peers, and trust that you have what it takes to succeed.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The past two years, year and a half, have been extremely challenging with the tariffs. It's been interesting watching the automotive companies adjust and figure things out. But I'm grateful to the auto industry for giving us a chance. I absolutely love it because it's constantly changing. Looking forward, I see a big opportunity in helping other women-owned businesses. I've started representing some of my customers who make plastic products and asked me to help them sell it. I know there's so many other small women-owned businesses within my WBE network who are designers and developers who make plastic products. I like helping friends figure out how to take a concept or an idea to actual plastic products, and helping them figure out how to sell that product to a bigger market. I feel like that is about to be a bigger part of my business than I imagined to begin with.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith is a very big part of me. My congregation has an entrepreneur business owners group called Global Business Leaders, and I'm part of their Women Entrepreneurship, so we meet every other week. Charity work is very important to me when I do have spare time. I'm a member of the Crystal Charity Ball here in Dallas, where 100 women raised over $10 million for children's charities. I write grants for that organization and run their production for the one gala every year. Supporting other women is also central to what I do. There's a network of us women who like to help and support other female entrepreneurs, to take the risk and grow, and you can find your tribe and do it together. I want to give other women the encouragement that hey, you can do this too.
