Angelica Britton-Britton is the Assistant Director of International Student Recruitment and Marketing at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she supports international admissions, application processing, and global recruitment strategy development. In her current role, which she began in January, she is preparing to expand UCO’s global presence through international travel to recruit prospective students and build partnerships with agents, universities, and high schools outside of the United States. She brings more than 13 years of experience in public education, student services, and international recruitment, beginning her career as an English Language Development (ELD) teacher for newcomer students, where she developed a strong foundation in cultural competency, student advocacy, and personalized academic support.

In addition to her recruitment work, Angelica serves as Vice President of the United Nations Association (UNA-USA) Oklahoma Chapter, where she supports initiatives that promote global cooperation, sustainable development, and community engagement. Her daily responsibilities are dynamic, balancing international recruitment efforts, student support, and leadership work with the UNA-USA chapter after work hours, along with active volunteer service throughout the community. She is deeply passionate about intercultural competency and talent development, focusing on empowering individuals through language, mentorship, and motivation. She currently supervises and mentors student workers, striving to help them find fulfillment in their work while developing professional skills and confidence that will support their long-term career success.

Angelica is driven by a love of learning and continuous growth, viewing each day as an opportunity to take on new challenges and expand her impact in higher education and global engagement. She is a visionary leader, mentor, and international education advocate who believes education is a powerful tool for transformation and opportunity. A proud alumna of the University of Central Oklahoma, she holds a Bachelor of Science in General Studies with a minor in Spanish and an associate degree in Modern Language from Oklahoma City Community College. Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my willingness to learn from my failures, mistakes, and setbacks. Rather than allowing challenges to discourage me, I use them as opportunities for growth, reflection, and improvement. Each experience has helped me become more resilient, more knowledgeable, and better prepared to continue moving forward toward my goals.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received was from my former supervisor, Marianne Redwine, who always encouraged me to never give up. She taught me to pursue my goals with confidence and not be afraid to take risks, reminding me that the worst that can happen is you learn from failure and try again. She also shared with me that success is only truly meaningful and enjoyable when it feels authentic and personally earned, which has motivated me to stay committed, push through challenges, and continue working toward goals that genuinely reflect who I am and what I want to achieve in life.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I will say that you will need to conquer your own demons and wear your scars like wings and achieve what you want to achieve. It's never too late to start, and it's never bad to change your course. You can always reroute.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think that for me, every day is a challenge, because every day is something new, and that's what makes it the best position ever, because I'm just hungry to learn more and more, and so this gives me the opportunity to grow in many different ways.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am very observant, so I appreciate all the values, but just being and doing ethical work, both outside and inside my work. That's what I appreciate the most. Empathy as well I think that's one that sticks to me, and I fly with it everywhere I go. I think this world needs a lot of empathy.
