Angelica Castro is an Account Executive at Elavon, Inc., where she focuses on building strong relationships with business clients and delivering solutions that address their needs. With seven years of experience in the financial services industry, Angelica has developed a career centered on customer service, relationship management, financial guidance, and business development. Before joining Elavon in 2025, she spent five years as a Senior Relationship Banker at BMO U.S., following earlier banking experience with U.S. Bank. Her career progression reflects her commitment to learning, building trust with clients, and continually expanding her professional capabilities.

Angelica’s professional journey began in customer-facing hospitality before she transitioned into banking as a Universal Banker. At BMO U.S., she supported customers with personal and business accounts, identified financial needs, conducted outreach, managed accounts, and provided guidance on appropriate products and services. She also gained experience as an Analyst with Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management. Today, through her work with Elavon and its partnership with BMO, Angelica supports business clients while continuing to strengthen her knowledge of payment solutions and relationship-based financial services. She has also earned Personal Lending Qualified credentials and has served as a Notary Public through the California Secretary of State.

Education and continuous growth have played an important role in Angelica’s development. She earned an associate degree from the University of Phoenix and later advanced her education with a bachelor’s degree in business management. Throughout her career, Angelica has emphasized the importance of helping others, learning from experienced leaders, and making the most of available resources. She values collaboration, professional growth, and meaningful client relationships, and remains focused on becoming the best version of herself while contributing to the success of her clients, colleagues, and organization.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Angelica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to persistence, reinvention, and a willingness to make difficult short-term sacrifices for long-term goals. Moving from hospitality into banking required me to start over financially while earning my GED and later my bachelor’s degree, but each step strengthened my skills and confidence. My experience in hospitality taught me how to communicate, build relationships, and develop strong sales skills, which have been valuable throughout my banking career. Most importantly, I have remained committed to learning, growing, and creating a better future for myself and my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received has come from several managers who challenged me, supported my growth, and helped shape my career. One manager in particular taught me that growth can come from navigating differences and learning from people who may not always agree with you. I value those relationships and the opportunities they have given me, and I hope to pay that support forward by helping others grow, develop their skills, and advance in their careers.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to speak up when something doesn’t feel right and to take breaks when needed, especially when managing multiple responsibilities. Take your goals seriously, strive to meet and exceed them, use the resources available to you, and support your peers along the way. Your success can grow alongside the success of those around you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The financial industry offers opportunities for growth, but it also requires adaptability and a willingness to make difficult decisions. For me, transitioning from hospitality to banking meant taking a significant temporary pay cut while balancing work, family, and education. However, the communication, relationship-building, and sales skills I developed in hospitality became valuable strengths in banking. Continuing my education and earning my bachelor’s degree have also opened new opportunities for advancement and leadership, while encouraging me to keep learning, support others, and pursue my long-term goals.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Helping others is one of the most important values in both my work and personal life. I enjoy encouraging people to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and recognize their potential. Supporting those in need brings me genuine fulfillment, and I believe that helping others grow and succeed is deeply meaningful.
