Angelica Martinez, MFA, is a bilingual author, educator, and advocate whose work bridges creativity, connection, and inclusion. She spent six years as a middle and high school teacher specializing in Special Education, where she honed her skills in fostering meaningful relationships and supporting diverse learners. Drawing from her own experiences as a student who faced academic challenges, Angelica’s dedication to education and storytelling is deeply personal and impactful.

A graduate of Liberty University, Angelica earned her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, transforming her passion for language into her debut novel, Livin’ La Vida Loba. She continues to expand her creative work, with additional projects and a series in development. Her writing blends literary insight with authentic storytelling, resonating with readers who see themselves reflected in her narratives.

In addition to her creative pursuits, Angelica is committed to equity and inclusion. She advocates for transforming environments to ensure that all individuals, particularly those with disabilities, have the tools and support they need to thrive. Her work emphasizes that true inclusion goes beyond representation—it requires access, accommodations, and intentional support.

Angelica also dedicates her time to community service, volunteering with organizations such as HolyWave Ministry and Mariposa Women & Family Center, supporting children and families in diverse communities. These experiences reflect her enduring commitment to nurturing others and giving back.

I attribute my success to my mother's simple but powerful advice: "keep plugging along," a mantra that fuels my aspiration to teach at the community college level.

The best career advice I’ve received is to start writing, never stop, and remember that reading is just as important.

Write what you want to read not what other people tell you to write.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Marketing in a publishing industry that tends to favor stories of the dominant culture.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

At the age of 14, I won a poetry contest from Editors Choice, a milestone that helped shape my love of creative expression and storytelling. In my personal life, I enjoy knitting, practicing Tai Chi, and watching movies and TV shows, with favorites including The Good Place and Wednesday.
