About Angelina

I'm currently a student at High Point University in North Carolina, where I'm pursuing my bachelor's degree in finance and entrepreneurship. I'll be graduating in May 2027. This summer, I'm working as a paid intern at Northwestern Mutual in Boston, which has been an incredible learning experience. I originally started college as a biology major because I wanted to be a dermatologist, but then I realized I didn't really like it. I've always loved numbers and business, so I switched to finance my sophomore year and just fell in love with it ever since. I've always been really interested in investments and helping people build financial plans, saving money, and all those types of tips and tricks about money. In my role at Northwestern Mutual, I work with senior advisors and their clients, helping them reach their financial goals. I build PX plans that lay out their entire financial future based on their assets, liabilities, income, age, and goals, whether that's retirement, buying a house, or something else. We meet with clients both on Zoom and in person. This internship has really pushed me out of my comfort zone, especially calling people to set up meetings and working with really smart professionals. I've definitely grown a lot in the past few weeks. Everything I've learned here and in school, I've incorporated into my own life and shared with my family and friends. I'm always trying to grow my network and get referrals, talking to whoever I can to expand my client base.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'd say definitely the best way is to invest in yourself and your knowledge, because knowledge is something that no one can take away from you. Like, of course, invest your money, but money goes away and that could be taken from you, so always invest in your knowledge and your skill set. Always try to really invest in one specific skill set so you can really set yourself apart from everyone else. It's something I find interesting. I've really invested in knowledge and took some time to read more about it, get books, or take courses, or just ask people I look up to for advice. This internship has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, working with really smart professionals and dealing with all types of situations that I've never really been exposed to. I've definitely grown a lot in the past few weeks I've been here, and I've learned a lot to help myself as well. When I see how they help someone in a certain way, I think, oh, I should implement that in my life.
