Her Interview
Ten minutes with Angelina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to drive. I definitely do not accept no, or you can't do that. There's always a way around, basically finding how the puzzle connects; there is always a way. I don't let obstacles stop me - I find solutions and keep pushing forward no matter what challenges come up.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've given, especially to other women interested in the industry, is that yes, you're a female, but if you put your mind to it, you can excel farther than what people realize. You may be delicate, well, you're not totally delicate - you can still prove yourself to be as capable as anyone else. Don't let being a woman hold you back from achieving more than others expect of you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have patience. This industry requires you to be patient as you navigate the challenges of being a woman in a male-dominated field and prove yourself capable.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is not being strong enough physically. That is definitely a challenge I face in this line of work. But it's also the mental capacity - it gets really tiring to have to constantly be your own champion and to be up against what can feel like a brick wall. And we're women, we get emotional. I will be the first to admit, I have broken down at work on many occasions. But I keep going because this work matters to me.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Humility and honesty are the values most important to me. Those definitely supersede anything else, whether it's professional or personal. I believe in staying humble and being truthful in all my interactions, both at work and in my personal life.
