Her Story

About Angeline

I started my career in public service as a police officer for the NYPD and also did EMS work for the fire department, which really changed my whole perspective on life because you see people at their weakest and lowest points. After leaving the police department, I transitioned into corporate security at Chase Bank, where I served as VP of the bank robbery team and later moved to threat management. During my time at Chase, I earned my MBA in security management, and then went back to school to get my MS in cybersecurity. I then worked in cybersecurity at MUFG bank before making the decision to become a full-time entrepreneur. Since 2019, I've been educating myself extensively on the finance side of things through various courses and certifications, even though that wasn't my original background. Now I run multiple businesses, with my main focus being ID Legacy Enterprise, where I do credit restoration and help people get ready for mortgages, and ID Legacy Enterprise Development, where I handle business structuring, business funding, business credit building, and business automation. I also have a construction business, a debt collections business working B2B with various companies including marijuana dispensaries, and a legal marijuana dispensary that I run with my husband as a partner. What drives me is helping people in my community who don't understand business or how to obtain capital. It's incredibly fulfilling when I can help someone get their first home or build their business, and they call me with tears saying it couldn't have happened without me. I've been doing this full-time for about two years now, and I can honestly say it was the best decision I could have made. I have grandchildren now, and I wanted that freedom to focus on my purpose, which is making a real difference in people's lives and helping them build generational wealth.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm very ambitious, but I truly believe that when you help others, you will always be successful. It's not about charging people or making money as the primary goal. When you do things just for money, I don't consider that being successful. Yeah, you might have all the money in the world, but how do you feel deep down inside? I always look at it like I'm going to do what I need to do as far as perfecting everything that I'm doing, but I'm also always trying to help people in ways that people probably would charge them thousands for. I get clients that call me all the time, and I don't charge for everything. If I can help you and put you in a position where you can succeed, the money will come, and it'll come in abundance. You don't always have to charge for every single thing. My success comes from putting others first, perfecting my craft, continuing to learn and educate myself, and sticking to what I'm doing. When you help others, you're blessed, and the money comes naturally.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Education is key. You have to educate yourself as much as possible and keep perfecting your craft. You need to learn all aspects of the job, because the more you learn, the more you'll feel confident. Once you understand what you're doing and you start helping people and seeing your outcomes, that will definitely bring in the confidence. But it has a lot to do with educating yourself, which is a major part of what I do. I had to learn consumer law and so many other things in order to be able to do what I'm doing. I learned about how to set businesses up, how marketing works, how automation helps businesses, and with all these technologies now like cloud and different systems, I'm involved in all of them. If you learn these things, you'll definitely be able to continue flourishing, because these are services that people need. People don't have time to sit down and learn these things because they're working, they have children, they have a lot of responsibilities. If you can learn these things, you'll be able to help so many people, and you'll be able to do what it is that you went to school and studied for.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge I see is that there are a lot of people out here who are not doing the right thing by others. I get clients that come to me saying someone charged them $10,000 and didn't do anything for them, didn't set their business up correctly, didn't fix their credit, nothing. There are so many scams going on, especially when you have to give people your personal information like your EIN and Social Security. This makes the industry a little tough if you're looking to market, and it's why I don't market a lot online. The majority of my clients are word of mouth, and it's always been organic. A lot of people are skeptical because of all the fraudulent people in this industry, and there are also people who are just not educated and give wrong information just to get a dollar. That makes it bad for the ones who are really doing the right thing. But I've been able to overcome this challenge by partnering with mortgage companies, real estate agents, attorneys, and immigration attorneys. These are people whose clients need the services I provide. When someone is looking to buy a home, their credit has to be good. If they're looking to get into business, they need proper business structure, and everything has to be set up correctly. By working with these professionals, I've been able to grow my business organically and help people who are serious about improving their financial situation.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are service and making a real change in people's lives. I've always been in service, from being a police officer to doing EMS work to what I do now. My goal is to try to make a change, and it doesn't have to be a large amount of people, because if you touch one person, you touch many. That one person will be able to help their family, and their family will be able to help their family, and it goes on and on. That's my hope, especially with financial education, because that's generational. Being grateful is also very important to me. Working as a police officer and doing EMS for the fire department changed my whole perspective on life, because you see people at their weakest and their lowest, and it makes you look at life differently. I'm very grateful for where I am. Every day is not going to be a perfect day, but once you have that grateful mindset, it changes everything. Spirituality and religion are also very important in my life. I also value being a good person, being accountable, being trustworthy, working hard, and if you say you're going to do something, doing it. Just stick to what it is that you want to do in life and continue moving forward.
