Angelyne Butler
Angelyne Butler, MPA, serves as the 24th Mayor of Forest Park, Georgia, and is the first person of color to hold this position. Under her leadership, Forest Park has experienced one of the most transformational periods in its history, turning a $15 million deficit into a $42 million general fund, attracting over $1 billion in new investment, and positioning the city as the top redevelopment of a decommissioned military base in the nation. Mayor Butler’s focus is on representing residents with respect and dignity while advancing strategic urban development initiatives that strengthen both community infrastructure and quality of life.
A seasoned government affairs executive and public policy strategist, Angelyne brings extensive experience in emergency management, economic development, and electoral processes. She has a proven track record of cultivating strategic partnerships, securing funding, and implementing policies that drive sustainable growth. Her leadership philosophy, PROGRESS—Political Restoration, Opportunity, and Growth for Residential, Economic, and Social Success—guides her approach to inclusive governance, workforce innovation, and long-term community development.
An alumna of Spelman College and a 2025 Marshall Memorial Fellow with the German Marshall Fund, Angelyne is expanding her leadership on a global scale, exploring transatlantic perspectives on governance, democracy, and economic equity. Throughout her career, she has championed initiatives such as LEAF Life, focusing on employee wellness and housing, and ELEVATE, promoting workforce readiness. With a commitment to building stronger, more connected communities, she continues to leverage her expertise in policy, public affairs, and government leadership to drive equitable and transformative outcomes for Forest Park and beyond.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to purpose and connection. Early on, I realized my impact would come from serving my community rather than following a traditional career path. As Mayor of Forest Park, I’ve faced challenges with integrity, turning a $15 million deficit into a stronger general fund, creating thousands of jobs through workforce programs, and launching initiatives like LEAF Life. What I’m most proud of is representing my community with dignity—showing that a woman can lead with her full femininity while making a lasting impact. My work is guided by the belief that true leadership is measured not just in numbers, but in the meaningful, lasting connections you build.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are connection, compassion, and balance. I prioritize meaningful relationships both in my work and personal life, and I believe in leading with integrity and empathy. Outside of work, I find joy and balance through spending time with my fur babies, Loc and Madam, and expressing creativity through painting.
