Her Interview

Ten minutes with Angie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God-given blessings, combined with a strong belief in hard work, perseverance, and determination. I have always understood that sustained success comes from staying committed, putting in consistent effort, and approaching every opportunity with integrity, discipline, and a willingness to push through challenges while continuing to grow both personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is, “If you never ask, it’s going to be a no.” This simple but powerful guidance has stayed with me throughout my career and has encouraged me to never be afraid to speak up, seek opportunities, and advocate for myself. I’ve learned that growth often comes from having the courage to ask questions, request opportunities, and step outside of my comfort zone, because you miss every opportunity you don’t pursue.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the court reporting profession is that success is built through consistent practice, discipline, and determination, as these skills develop over time with focus and a strong work ethic. Court reporting requires precision, commitment, and a willingness to continually learn and improve, so patience and persistence are essential throughout your career. In nonprofit work, I encourage being intentional about the cause you choose, engaging directly with the people you aim to serve to truly understand their needs, and surrounding yourself with a strong, mission-driven board to ensure meaningful and effective impact. Across both fields, integrity, purpose, and dedication are key to making a lasting difference.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In the court reporting profession, the biggest challenge today is the ongoing legislative and technological impact of artificial intelligence, which is increasingly capable of performing transcription-related tasks and raises concerns about the future of the profession. At the same time, this creates an opportunity for court reporters to further emphasize the critical importance of human accuracy, judgment, and legal expertise in the official record. In nonprofit work, the primary challenge is securing consistent funding, while the opportunity lies in expanding awareness, building strong community partnerships, and developing sustainable support systems that allow organizations to continue making a meaningful impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life center on the outcome of raising good children, running a successful and ethical business, and building and supporting a nonprofit organization that meaningfully helps others. I believe true success is measured not only by professional achievement, but also by the positive impact we make on our families, our communities, and the lives we are able to improve through service, integrity, and purpose-driven work.
