About Anika

With over 23 years of experience in healthcare, I serve as a practice administrator at Global Kidney Center while also running my own national consulting business, Empowerment Connection. Through my consulting work, I partner with healthcare startups on organizational management, strategic planning, and growth initiatives. I travel throughout the United States as a public speaker, empowering small businesses and small practices to reach their full potential. What I'm most proud of is my ability to speak in crowds, whether in business settings or spiritual settings, because helping other people rise above whatever their circumstances is also helping me rise even more. As an ordained pastor, I bring a unique perspective to my work, finding deep fulfillment in the intersection of professional excellence and spiritual guidance.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God. My faith has been the foundation of everything I've accomplished, guiding me through challenges and opportunities alike.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't let negativity stop you from growing. There will be challenges and obstacles, but you have to keep pushing forward and not allow negative voices or circumstances to hold you back from reaching your potential.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being a minority female is still a challenge, especially in healthcare that's male-dominated. Despite progress, women of color continue to face unique obstacles in gaining recognition and advancing in leadership roles within the healthcare industry.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is a big thing for me. I'd rather you tell me the hurtful truth than a comfortable lie. Integrity and transparency are foundational to how I operate, both professionally and personally.
