About Anissa
Anissa Nicole Moore, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA, is a nationally recognized educational speaker, consultant, author, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with more than 33 years of experience in education. As the founder of Anissa Moore Educational Consulting, LLC, she partners with school districts, education agencies, and organizations nationwide to deliver evidence-based professional development, instructional coaching, and keynote presentations. Her career began as a special education paraprofessional before she earned her teaching credentials and certifications in special education, general education, and early childhood education. She later completed a Master of Education in Special Education with an emphasis in early childhood education, obtained principal certification, and advanced into school administration and district leadership roles, including serving as a special education coordinator. Nearly two decades ago, she became a licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, further expanding her expertise in supporting educators and students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
Through Anissa Moore Educational Consulting, LLC, Anissa provides coaching, staff development, and consultation for teachers, principals, paraprofessionals, and educational leaders. She is widely recognized for delivering practical, research-based training in special education, behavior intervention, early childhood education, specially designed instruction, co-teaching, and inclusive practices. In addition to her consulting work, she is an accomplished national keynote speaker whose presentations on educator motivation, resilience, and professional growth inspire audiences across the country. She is also the author of The Self-Determined Teacher: Using the Principles of Behavior Motivation to Re-Inspire Your Educational Fire, a resource that empowers educators to rediscover purpose and sustain excellence throughout their careers.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the values instilled in me from an early age, particularly a growth mindset that encouraged me to embrace high expectations, keep learning, and never stop pursuing new possibilities. I was raised to believe that challenges are opportunities for growth, and that perspective has guided me throughout my career. I've also always had a natural sense of curiosity and determination. Even as a child, I questioned conventional approaches and enjoyed exploring new ideas and better ways of doing things. That inquisitive spirit, combined with my love of connecting with people, has evolved into a lifelong passion for learning, problem-solving, and innovation. I believe my willingness to ask questions, think creatively, and remain open to new opportunities has been instrumental in shaping both my personal and professional success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My goal is to expand my impact by continuing to grow my work as a speaker, coach, consultant, and author while supporting educators, students, and school leaders across the country. I am especially passionate about helping students with disabilities succeed by equipping the educators who serve them with practical strategies, motivation, and intentional practices that foster meaningful growth. Through speaking, coaching, and consulting, I strive to inspire others, strengthen educational communities, and create lasting, positive outcomes for both students and the professionals who support them.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the education field is to be confident in your abilities and courageous enough to take initiative. Don't be afraid to challenge conventional thinking or explore innovative approaches that can make a meaningful difference. Stay curious, ask thoughtful questions, and commit yourself to lifelong learning. At the same time, lead with humility, empathy, and a genuine desire to serve others. When you combine strength, determination, and compassion with a willingness to grow, you'll not only build a successful career but also create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those you serve.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in education today is addressing the growing need for students' social and emotional development. As technology and screen time continue to increase, many students are arriving in classrooms with lower levels of motivation, resilience, and interpersonal skills. This creates an important opportunity for educators to be intentional in how they engage, inspire, and support learners. I believe that implementing simple, practical, and motivating strategies each day can have a profound impact on student success across special education, general education, and higher education. By fostering meaningful relationships, building intrinsic motivation, and creating supportive learning environments, we can better prepare students to thrive both academically and personally.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me, both professionally and personally, are service, encouragement, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. I believe in using my knowledge and experience to empower educators and professionals with practical strategies, confidence, and renewed motivation. Whether I'm coaching, consulting, or presenting, I strive to create engaging, educational experiences that inspire growth and positive change. I am passionate about serving others with authenticity, compassion, and excellence, and I find my greatest fulfillment in helping people recognize their potential and succeed in the important work they do every day.
