Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being real, being honest, and being authentic. In my field, you have to truly care about the person in front of you - it can't just be a job, it has to be a calling. People come to me because they're struggling, because they don't know where to go, and they need help. If you're in it for the buck, it's never going to work out. I always tell people I'm not in this to make a million, I'm in this to make a difference. That authenticity and genuine care is what makes the difference.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received is that it’s never too late to pursue a career you’re passionate about—even in your 40s or 50s. I’m a melanoma and breast cancer survivor and have faced a car accident, a house fire, floods, and hurricanes that destroyed my home. Any of these could have stopped me, but I reopened my business because it’s who I am.

If you have a passion, go for it. Even if you fall short, at least you tried—and that’s what matters most.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to have a true passion for what you do and genuine care for the people you serve. In this field, it can’t just be a job—it has to feel like a calling. People come to you when they’re struggling and need guidance, and if your motivation is just financial, it won’t work. I always say I’m not here to make a million; I’m here to make a difference.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

A big challenge in my field is that some underestimate the expertise required—many try shortcuts without the training or experience. The biggest opportunity comes from lived experience. I’ve faced a double mastectomy, chemo, and type 2 diabetes, and overcoming these challenges allows me to genuinely relate to others in a way education alone can’t.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are a strong work ethic and staying true to my morals—I never sacrifice integrity for business. Being real, honest, and authentic is at the core of everything I do. I believe in genuinely caring about the person in front of me, not just seeing them as a transaction. For me, work is a calling, not just a job, and passion drives everything I do.
