About Anita

Anita Chandrasekhar serves as Senior Manager of Talent Strategy and Operations at Zapier, where she has worked for four and a half years. In this role she oversees talent strategy and AI operations for the recruitment team and broader people team, manages a team of three, handles tech stack management, recruitment data analytics, team enablement and training, AI enablement, and project management for the org-wide promotions process while also acting as chief of staff to the head of global talent. She brings nearly 10 years of prior experience at Teach for America, where she focused on recruitment for the last six years along with project management, people and performance work, and data analytics. Earlier she worked in consulting and then banking at Goldman Sachs after completing her undergraduate studies. Anita attributes much of her career progression to being in the right place at the right time and to a manager at Teach for America who recognized her potential. She holds a double major in economics and International Studies with double minors in humanities and business from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master's in Public Policy from the National University of Singapore, which she completed in 2012 after growing up in India and completing her schooling in Bangalore.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success largely to being at the right place at the right time, and especially to my manager at Teach for America who saw potential in me and pulled me into this work.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be scared to fail or to do things that you may not enjoy, because finding the thing that you love sometimes takes doing things that you don't love. Let all those paths guide you to find something that you're good at and that you love.
