What do you attribute your success to?
Anita attributes her success to her relationship-driven leadership style and her ability to make people feel supported, valued, and understood. She believes her strength lies in building genuine connections, earning trust, and being the person that different departments HR, operations, sales, and construction can always rely on. She also credits her work ethic, adaptability, and willingness to take on responsibilities beyond her job description. Anita has spent her entire career in the home-building and construction industry, with years of experience working for a large national home builder before transitioning to a smaller, locally owned company. While the exact number wasn’t stated, her experience spans well over a decade, covering operations, HR, payroll, permitting, and office management within residential construction. Anita’s expertise includes HR operations, payroll management, commissions and bonus processing, permitting, onboarding, supporting both the construction and sales teams, and strengthening office operations. She is also highly skilled in people management, cross-department communication, and relationship-building within both small and large organizational environments. Anita’s most notable achievement is the meaningful impact she made at her previous company, where approximately 30 colleagues attended her farewell lunch a powerful confirmation of the relationships she built and the value she brought to the organization. She is equally proud of how quickly she has become a trusted, integral part of her new team.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice that has shaped Anita’s career is the importance of investing in relationships and understanding that people remember how you made them feel. Outside of work, Anita works out seven days a week to stay grounded mentally and physically. She enjoys spending time with her son, who recently graduated with a business degree, and she is in a phase of rediscovering herself now that he is grown. She values balance, personal wellness, and staying active.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Anita would tell young women to be open to learning every part of the business, because the construction and home-building world thrives when you understand both the people and the process. She would encourage them to be approachable, ask questions often, and not be intimidated by the operational side of the industry. Most importantly, she would remind them that strong relationships are just as valuable as technical skills.
