Her Story

About Ann

From a young age, I was very good at math and science, and sometime in high school, I was drawn to engineering, which I pursued in college. In college, I got very interested in doing robotics projects, and that led me to do my master's immediately after college, with a specialization in control systems and robotics. I found a job at PACR working for Kenworth Truck Company, and I've been in the commercial automotive space since then. PACR is the parent company for Kenworth and Peterbilt. I do have a passion for the business, and I think generally when you think of engineers, you're very technical. I think I'm unique in that I'm both technical and business-minded, with a passion for finance and basically numbers. I currently serve as the collaboration manager for strategic partnerships at PACR, where I manage the partnership that PACR has with companies such as Aurora for the development of autonomous vehicles. I've been in this position for about 3 years and in the automotive technology field for over 10 years.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ann

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to support from family and really, a lot of hard work.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received is that it's always best to have a network of people within your professional circle who you can call as the Board of Advisors for your professional success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Always know that, maybe where there's a will, there's a way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One big challenge is that it's a male-dominated industry, which is also an opportunity. And the workplace is still not set up for working moms. No matter how you look at it, we've made a lot of strides to make the workplace women friendly, but working mothers still struggle.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value tenacity, determination, and having a vision.
