About Ann
Ann Palmer is an experienced educator, grant writer, and emerging entrepreneur, with a career spanning over 35 years in K–12 and higher education. She has held diverse roles, including English teacher, academically gifted coordinator in North Carolina, and assistant principal in two schools. Throughout her career, Ann has found gifted education especially fulfilling and has dedicated herself to mentoring colleagues and fostering teacher development.
Currently, Ann is launching Positive Proofreading and Editing, a small business offering professional proofreading and editing services built on decades of classroom experience. Refashioning her skills for online entrepreneurship, she combines her deep understanding of language, communication, and pedagogy to support clients in presenting their work authentically and effectively. Previously, Ann taught English and facilitated international student learning at Middlesex Community College and Mass Bay Community College, focusing on differentiated instruction and learning-style awareness, including strategies applicable to special education students.
Ann’s professional philosophy emphasizes honesty paired with kindness, flexibility in professional life, and the authentic presentation of expertise. She earned her Master’s degree in English from Duke University and is skilled in creative writing, American literature, and academic instruction. With a commitment to thoughtful guidance, student growth, and clear communication, Ann continues to leverage her extensive teaching background to make a meaningful impact both in education and in her new entrepreneurial venture.

A challenge is the perception that older professionals are less viable; an opportunity/challenge for her personally is transitioning to entrepreneurship and learning self‑promotion and marketing skills that differ from traditional education norms.
