What do you attribute your success to?
She attributes much of her success to her parents, especially her father, whose example as a fourth-generation small-business owner in a small Iowa town modeled hard work, relationship focus and wearing many hats.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get to know your counterparts beyond professional roles and build authentic relationships; guard your word and reputation; be present, intentional, and work hard; choose your battles wisely.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Major challenge: healthcare is becoming unaffordable, putting pressure on smaller businesses. Opportunity: implement wellness and condition/disease management programs and form broker partnerships to improve population health and reduce employer costs.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trust and loyalty, comfortability that allows others to feel heard, and bringing genuine emotion and connection to relationships.
