Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Much of my success comes from the experiences I've gained working for companies over the years that truly valued accuracy, consistency, and client relationships. I've had the opportunity to manage payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and full-charge bookkeeping for a range of businesses—each one giving me the tools and confidence to eventually open my own firm. These roles taught me the importance of structure, reliability, and staying current with ever-changing financial regulations.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If I could give one piece of advice to young women looking to enter the accounting or bookkeeping field, it would be: go to college. No matter your age or background, education builds your foundation. I earned my associate degree in accounting at 50 years old, and it was one of the proudest moments of my life. The knowledge, discipline, and credibility that come with a formal education are invaluable. Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself—you’re worth it.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge I’ve faced in this industry is the sheer amount of competition. There are many bookkeepers and payroll providers out there, so standing out means delivering not only excellent service but also building genuine relationships with clients. It’s not just about balancing books; it’s about earning trust, showing up consistently, and being someone clients can rely on when it matters most.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Helping others is at the heart of everything I do—both personally and professionally. Whether it’s supporting a small business through financial cleanup or just being available to answer a client’s late-night question, I try to help in any way I can. I believe in lifting others up, staying humble, and doing honest work. These values have shaped my approach to business and are the reason why many of my clients stay with me long-term.
