Her Interview

Ten minutes with Anna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my passion for leadership. Throughout my career path I have made leadership the forefront of my initiatives. Leadership is what defines my success as it sets the morals of every lesson I teach. It takes the emphasis away from me and instead shifts it towards my message; in being a leader we act for others, not for ourselves. Consistently pushing this mindset has created opportunities and opened doors that acting as an individual does not.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Through pageantry I have been consistently reminded that success is not linear. It doesn’t happen over night and it most definitely does not occur if we don’t act on it. That is what has pushed me to develop immense determination and dedication despite obstacles. If a door is locked and you pull the handle it will not open. That doesn’t mean you can’t open the door, you just haven’t found the key. The key is the dedication we have to continue pushing past our initial failures.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

As a dance coach you must find an equilibrium between discipline and progress. Finding this equilibrium has been a journey for me as a coach with younger students. It’s important to teach the fundamentals while consistently providing engaging activities. Along with this maintaining a good relationship with students is the best way to foster the confidence needed to succeed.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Persevering through demanding time commitments will still taking personal breaks. I believe every commitment I have deserves the same level of intention to find success. Although as a full time International Baccalaureate student with a heavy course load it can be hard to find the time to both succeed in extracurriculars and school while also maintaining moments for myself. Despite this I am a meticulous planner and have made it a point to allocate time to every endeavor by planning proactively rather than reactively.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Through both work and my personal life I focus on the importance of loyalty and efficiency. Maintaining a dependable relationship with your workplace creates a strong commitment between both you and your employers. This ultimately benefits both you and the company. Along with this efficiency is a key factor as it contributes to getting all of your tasks done with both precision and a quickness.
