What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a lifelong fascination with psychology. I’ve been drawn to understanding the human mind since childhood—I even read Freud at the age of eight. While I initially considered a career in psychiatry, I ultimately chose counseling, as it allows me to focus on talk therapy and therapeutic interventions, helping clients through meaningful dialogue rather than prescribing medication.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that maintaining boundaries and prioritizing self-care is essential to being effective in this field. Taking care of yourself allows you to show up fully for your clients and sustain a long, meaningful career in counseling.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is to remember that you cannot work harder than your clients. True progress comes from guiding and supporting them, not doing the work for them. Patience, empathy, and empowering others are key to making a meaningful impact.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is burnout, particularly for passionate new therapists who tend to “sprint” instead of pacing themselves. The opportunity lies in learning sustainable practices early, balancing empathy with self-care, and building resilience to provide long-term, effective support for clients.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me in both my work and personal life are empathy, adaptability, and nonjudgment. I prioritize de-escalating tense situations, reading a room quickly, and responding thoughtfully. Building rapid rapport, especially in high-intensity or brief interactions, allows me to connect meaningfully and provide effective support.
