Day earned her AS from Liberty University, her BA in early childhood from the University of Central Florida, her master's degree from Harris University, and holds a certification in early childhood. Prior to entering education, she worked as a restaurant manager and modeled. Ten minutes with Anna

01What do you attribute your success to?

My kids are my why and the reason I keep trying so hard to keep going and getting better positioned to financially provide for them even more. They are the reason I don't ever give up. I figure out a workaround and keep going. Sometimes things happen, you pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and keep it truckin'.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take everything with a grain of salt because everyone's going to form their own opinion. Other people's opinion of you do not matter. What matters is what you think of yourself and what you feel in your heart is right to do as long as you're not hurting anyone. Keep trying because it's a learning process. Even when you think you know it all you don't. Keep learning new skills. Observe your students get to know them because that is the way you are going to find in order to be able to teach them effectively. Always put your family first because at the end of the day you will be replaced.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include not being allowed to give less than 50% even if students do nothing, some students being violent, inability to give appropriate feedback in charter or public schools, lack of support from parents, more expectations with lessening budgets and salary cuts. Opportunities include growth by learning new methods every day, meeting various students and having an impact, learning about different conditions, putting other skills to use like medical knowledge, meeting parents from different countries.
