Her Story
About Anna
I've been in the logistics and transportation management industry for 10 years, with 9 of those years at my current company where I've been promoted 5 times. My typical day runs Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, and involves handling everything related to getting customers' freight shipped. I start each morning checking emails to understand customer needs, then communicate with both customers and carriers via email and phone to ensure we're achieving all the goals that the customer and their customers have set. My main area of expertise is operations, which covers the day-to-day work of scheduling appointments, getting things shipped out, handling customer concerns, and being an advocate for the customer. I love being able to problem solve and troubleshoot to find solutions for customers and help the business grow. As I like to say, nothing's ever the same when you're dealing with freight, so every day is fluid and ever-changing.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Anna
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my growth and advancement throughout my career. I've been with my company for 9 years and have been promoted 5 times during that time. I think just growing throughout the company and helping the company achieve their goals through the 9 years is definitely my biggest achievement. I like to be able to find an issue, take charge, and fix it, which has been key to my advancement.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think right now, it's just the market. The carrier market right now is very challenging, not just for my company or our customers, but anybody in the logistics industry. The freight market is upside down right now. I mean, rates are astronomical, so it's finding that perfect balance between getting the customer's freight moved with on-time deliveries and on-time pickups, but also maintaining that freight spend.
