Her Interview

Ten minutes with Anna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to an unwavering commitment to improving the human condition, a passion for healing, and the courage to challenge what is possible.

My career has been defined by a unique journey across science, healthcare, and clinical innovation—from developing foundational DNA platforms, to caring for patients, to leading global clinical development across pharma, biotech, and CRO organizations. Through every chapter, my purpose has remained the same: accelerating the delivery of transformative therapies to the people who need them most.

I have learned that meaningful innovation happens at the intersection of disciplines. By bridging scientific discovery, patient care, operational excellence, and emerging technologies such as theranostics and artificial intelligence, I strive to create new pathways that advance medicine and improve lives.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received was simple: “Be bold.”

Those two words have guided many of the most important decisions throughout my career. Being bold does not mean taking unnecessary risks—it means having the courage to challenge conventional thinking, pursue opportunities that others may overlook, and believe in possibilities before they are widely accepted.

My journey has been shaped by bold choices: moving from scientific discovery into clinical practice, transitioning into global clinical development leadership, and embracing emerging fields such as theranostics and artificial intelligence when they were still evolving. Each step required curiosity, conviction, and the willingness to step into the unknown.

I have learned that innovation requires leaders who are willing to ask difficult questions, challenge the status quo, and create new paths forward. Being bold has allowed me to bring together science, technology, and patient care with one purpose: accelerating the delivery of meaningful therapies to patients who need them most.

“Be bold” has become more than career advice—it has become my leadership philosophy. The future of healthcare will be shaped by those willing to imagine what is possible and have the courage to make it happen.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the life sciences industry is simple: be bold, stay curious, and believe in the value of your unique perspective.

Healthcare and biotechnology are evolving faster than ever, and the leaders who will shape the future are those who are willing to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and bring new ideas forward. Do not wait until you have every answer or until you feel completely ready—growth happens when you step into opportunities that stretch you.

Build your expertise, but also build your network. Seek mentors and sponsors who will support your growth, and remember that your voice matters. Some of the greatest innovations come from diverse perspectives and from people who are willing to see possibilities where others see limitations.

Most importantly, stay connected to your purpose. In our industry, the work we do ultimately impacts patients and families around the world. Let that mission guide your decisions, fuel your resilience, and inspire you to lead with both courage and compassion.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The life sciences industry is at one of the most transformative moments in its history. The greatest opportunity is the ability to harness scientific innovation, advanced technologies, and real-world data to bring safer and more effective therapies to patients faster.

At the same time, one of our biggest challenges is that the traditional clinical development model was not designed for the speed and complexity of today’s science. Breakthroughs in areas such as precision medicine, oncology, radiopharmaceuticals, cell and gene therapy, and artificial intelligence are creating new possibilities, but they also require us to rethink how we design, execute, and manage clinical trials.

The opportunity ahead is to build a more intelligent, patient-centered, and agile approach to drug development—one that combines human expertise with responsible use of technology. Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform decision-making, improve trial efficiency, and identify insights that were previously difficult to uncover, but success will depend on strong governance, data quality, and maintaining trust.

Ultimately, the future of our industry will be shaped by our ability to innovate not just in the therapies we develop, but in the way we bring those therapies to the patients who need them.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most in both my work and personal life are purpose, integrity, compassion, and continuous growth.

Purpose is at the center of everything I do. In healthcare and life sciences, our work has a profound impact on patients and families, and I believe every decision should ultimately connect back to improving the human condition.

Integrity is the foundation of how I lead. I believe trust is earned through transparency, accountability, and doing the right thing—even when it is challenging. In an industry built on collaboration and patient responsibility, strong values are essential to creating meaningful and lasting impact.

I also value curiosity and courage. The greatest innovations happen when we are willing to challenge assumptions, explore new ideas, and embrace change. My career has been shaped by a willingness to learn, adapt, and pursue opportunities at the intersection of science, healthcare, and emerging technologies.

Finally, I believe deeply in the power of people. Success is not achieved alone—it comes from building strong teams, supporting others, and creating environments where people feel empowered to contribute their best. Whether developing new therapies or developing future leaders, my goal has always been to leave things better than I found them.
