Her Story
About Anna
Anna Roseboro began her career in education in 1967 as a long-term substitute teacher at a middle school in St. Louis, Missouri, shortly after graduating from Wayne State University and moving to the area following her marriage. She went on to serve as a classroom teacher and chairman of the English department before retiring from those roles. Since then, she has dedicated her time to mentoring early career educators, with a focus on educators of color, through her work with the National Council of Teachers of English and the Council on English Leadership for 16 years as co-director of the Early Career Educators of Color program. A National Board Certified Teacher and National Writing Project Fellow, she earned her master's degree from University of California, San Diego in 1989 and has drawn on her decades of experience teaching English language arts, coaching speech teams, and directing summer programs to author books, including an anthology titled Temptations of Christians inspired by the Sermon on the Mount. She has been a member of the National Council of Teachers of English since 1989 and served as president of the California Association of Teachers of English, while also directing vacation Bible schools with educational components.
