Her Story
About Anna
My career journey began at Indiana University, where late in my undergrad experience I was exposed to different aspects of PR and marketing and found myself gravitating toward great storytelling. Since I was young, I've had a passion for writing and different forms of storytelling - first through photography, and then as video became bigger. That's been my constant for the past 20 years along with the connected tissue with people. Over the last decade, this passion has married beautifully with the evolution of digital marketing and social-first marketing. In my current role, I lead a team embedded in brands like Arm & Hammer, OxiClean, and TheraBreath, bringing them to life through digital and social channels. My days are varied - I meet regularly with partners like TikTok and large publishing companies like iHeartMedia. I also establish best practices, systems and processes, thinking about our tech stack and making sure we have boots on the ground with social listening to bring consumer insights into our plans. My work spans from paid partnerships to owned channels, robust influencer partnerships, earned love and big tentpole moments.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice that was instilled in me early in my career is that you have to be your own best publicist. You have to take pride in your accomplishments, even if it is early in your career when you're still in school, or maybe you're running a nonprofit on the side, or you have a side hustle. There could be all different forms of how you really not only get recognized, but continue to learn.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think LinkedIn is a great place to start. I've been an early adopter for really every social channel that has become mainstream, and LinkedIn is a really wonderful way to not only connect with people firsthand, but to stay informed and really put yourself out there. You have to be your own best publicist - take pride in your accomplishments, even if it is early in your career, when you're still in school, or maybe you're running a nonprofit on the side, or you have a side hustle, such as being an influencer or content creator. There could be all different forms of how you really not only get recognized, but continue to learn. LinkedIn is a great start for all of that.
