Her Story
About Anne
I've worked in accounting for 10 years after a career change following my divorce in 2010. I was originally a vocal performance major and sang with Tulsa Opera for 6 years, but decided to pursue accounting to prove to myself that I could do it despite my large port wine facial birthmark. I'm currently an accountant and auditor at the Dept of Transportation, serving as a manager for two and a half years, and I'm on track to become the next director. Outside of work, I'm an avid roller skater and am passionate about helping others with birthmarks through confidence building and career support.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Lean into the hard. It's gonna be harder for you than anybody else. Don't hold on to that heart. Understand that the heart is what we make it. We decide how hard it's going to be. So, also understand what you bring to the table. Because the moment you understand what you bring to the table, you get to trust your gut 100%. And that gut is usually never wrong.
