Her Interview

Ten minutes with Anne

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of deep subject-matter expertise, strong professional networks, and a calm, collaborative approach. I prioritize cooperation and kindness, even in high-stakes situations. My willingness to take on complex cross-border issues, ask the right questions, and stay current with evolving regulations has helped me become a trusted advisor to leadership teams. Over my 22 years practicing law, I’ve built a career in corporate and regulatory law, progressing into senior in-house roles where I can blend legal expertise with strategy, operations, and people leadership. Most recently, transitioning from a large company to a startup allowed me to build a compliance program from the ground up, which reinforced my passion for practical, business-focused legal work.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Two key mentors taught me that I could bring my authentic self to the workplace and still be respected and effective. They modeled vulnerability and realness in senior roles, showing me that credibility comes from competence and character—not perfection. That mentorship reshaped the way I lead and has guided how I encourage others to show up fully at work.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women in law to speak up earlier and more often. Don’t wait until you’re 100% sure—your strategic input has value even while you’re still learning. Bring your full self to the table, contribute ideas, and don’t buy into the myth that lawyers must be flawless to be credible. Authenticity and confidence go a long way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI in legal practice presents both a challenge and an opportunity. I am cautious about over-reliance on AI for case law and critical legal analysis without human review, but I also see its potential to improve efficiency when used responsibly. More broadly, the profession’s opportunity lies in combining technical legal skill with emotional intelligence, authenticity, and ethical technology use.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity, integrity, and steadiness are central to who I am. I strive to be my true self at work and to create environments where others feel safe to do the same. Outside of work, I prioritize family, support my daughter’s travel soccer, and maintain balance between the demands of my career and home life.
