Her Story
About Anne
I've been working in healthcare compliance since 2014, and since August 2024, I've been leading the audit and monitoring program in the compliance department of a large healthcare system. I oversee a team of four specialists, and my day-to-day work involves conducting audits, providing trainings, responding to HIPAA violations, assessing risks that come with those violations, and managing corrective action plans. I also handle mentorship for my team, conduct onboarding and education for staff, perform investigations, and update our policies and procedures. My responsibilities include ensuring we are compliant with state and federal laws, identifying areas of risk based on our audits, and preparing reports of our findings. One of my most notable achievements has been rewriting the workflow of the audit program and our onboarding process, which resulted in dropping our tickets by 30%. I've also been able to conduct trainings and education that have boosted compliance awareness in our organization by 70%.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice that I've received is that if you have any question, ask. There is no bad question. The only bad question is the one that you do not ask. I truly believe in this because asking questions is how we learn and grow, and it's important to never hold back when you need clarity or understanding.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to keep updating their skills and knowledge. They can do that through webinars, attending seminars, or workshops, and even adding professional certifications, because they do help a lot. With those professional certifications, we are able to climb up the ladder very fast, if you have the skills of the roles that you're working on. Continuous learning and professional development are key to advancing in this field.
