Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being an active listener and really understanding what's going on beneath the surface. For me, influencing happens every day, and it's about respecting the other person's needs. I may not see it the way they see it, but I put forth the effort to really listen and try to hone in on what's really going on, because sometimes in this profession, people say things but that's not truly what it really is. I try to really peel back the onion and ask the right questions to make sure I get the information I need, because sometimes it's an employee relation concern or sometimes it's a concern that the manager can't articulate. I like to meet people where they are to get a better understanding. I'm inquisitive by nature, and I think that curiosity, combined with my willingness to listen and adapt, has been key to my success.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received has come from several incredible mentors, including Pamela Martin, Kim Noel, and David Del Vecchio. Each of them played a unique role in shaping my journey—helping me recognize my strengths, build confidence in my abilities, and navigate my path into compensation and analytics. Their guidance taught me the importance of staying open to growth, trusting my skillset, and being intentional about my career direction.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The challenge is the learning curve. I always say that compensation is - if you have the core of it, you're good, but compensation is done differently at every company. You can't just go in making decisions without knowing the culture of the company. But if you stay the course and learn the institution, learn the culture, you'll be fine. I would say, listen. Be open to other people's ideas. And respect others and respect the differences of others. That's really important in this field.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is the learning curve. Compensation is done differently at every company, so even if you have the core knowledge, you can't just go in making decisions without knowing the culture of the company. That's a real learning curve. But if you stay the course and learn the institution and the culture, you'll be successful. The key is to listen, be open to other people's ideas, and respect the differences of others. Every organization has its own way of doing things, and understanding that is critical to being effective in this field.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my personal life, I take my role as a parent so seriously. My kids have been the joy of my life. Having that unconditional love and being around them just gives me complete joy. I just like spending a lot of time with my loved ones, my kids, and my friends. Family is everything to me. In my work, I value respect - respecting other people's needs and perspectives even when I don't see things the same way. I believe in really listening to people and being open to their ideas. I also value service, which is why I serve my church as a deaconess and choir member and do community service work. These values of family, respect, listening, and service guide everything I do.
