Her Story

About Annette

Annette Santiago serves as a mental health counselor at a university, a role she has held for a little over 3 years following a decade of service in various capacities at the same institution. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Notre Dame College in Ohio before becoming a military spouse, which prompted a career pause. She later returned to school to complete both her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work at Wichita State University and obtained her license as a social worker. In her practice, Annette provides individual and couples counseling to college students, facilitates group work including a co-led trauma group and a neurodivergent support group, and supervises approximately two social work practicum students each year. She takes pride in bridging the counseling center with the social work department through these practicum experiences. Beyond her clinical duties, Annette is actively involved in professional and community initiatives as a member of Arrelante Juntos, the Hispanic faculty and staff group at her university, where she will serve as secretary, and as a participant on the wellness committee of ICTSOS, a nonprofit focused on eliminating human trafficking.
