About Annie
Annie MaWeaver serves as Head of the High Performance Computing (HPC) product strategy team within Google Cloud. In this role, she leads a global team of product managers responsible for building supercomputers that support large-scale scientific and technical computing experiments for scientists, engineers, and researchers. MaWeaver joined Google in 2010 after earning her B.A. in Neuroscience and Economics from Columbia University in 2009 and has remained with the company throughout her 16-plus-year career in technology. She later completed a part-time MBA at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business in 2017 while continuing to work full time. Beyond her professional responsibilities, MaWeaver serves as an executive board member of Bert Shoe Academy, a nonprofit school focused on Mandarin immersion education for working immigrant families, and on the Columbia College Alumni Association Board. She and her husband are also active in philanthropy, having donated seven figures to initiatives addressing malnutrition, maternal health, and support for displaced populations.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You don't have to know exactly what you want to be when you grow up. Gather data through process of elimination by trying things. Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you should do that thing or continue doing it. Be aware of biases that might pigeonhole you into execution roles rather than strategy and leadership.
