Ten minutes with Annita

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I have received some really good mentoring from people in the nonprofit sector. Key times in my life where people have been present for me when I needed it. I recognized that and realized that being present for others is important to me. I try to make sure that I honor myself, honor other people's time, and honor my spirit.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If someone wanted to get into the nonprofit sector, you have to do it because you have a heart, and not because you want to earn an income. It's heart work. It's a needed field. Come join us in the nonprofit sector. Put your heart on your sleeve and get ready for a really rewarding job.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being present. For family, if I'm there with them, being present. In my work, I'm very protective of my time because wherever I am, I try to be really present. I'm not one of those people that is on my phone doing several things at once.
