Ten minutes with Antara
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success largely to resilience and the ability to adapt thoughtfully to change. I started my career with engineering but soon recognized it did not align with my long-term goals. I transitioned into consulting, where I gained valuable experience; however, the rapid advancement of AI and automation signaled that the demand for this profession might diminish over time.
In response, I made a deliberate decision to pursue an MBA to deepen my understanding of business and develop skills that would remain relevant in a shifting landscape. This strategic pivot led me to a career in Finance - a field where, despite technological progress, there remains a critical need to manage finances, optimize cash flow, drive cost efficiencies, and more.
Throughout this journey, maintaining a mindset open to learning and change has been essential. Success, in my experience, is not defined by a linear path but by the willingness to reassess, adapt, and pursue opportunities aligned with one’s evolving strengths and passions.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received centers on two fundamental principles.
First, excel at your work—let your actions speak louder than words. Consistently delivering high-quality results and demonstrating dedication naturally draws positive attention. When you focus on excellence, people notice, and opportunities or rewards often come in ways you may not have anticipated.
Second, embrace the power of saying “yes.” Even when an opportunity doesn’t align perfectly with your long-term goals or feels outside your comfort zone, accepting the challenge can be transformative. Saying “yes” opens doors to experiences and growth that might otherwise remain inaccessible. Often, these unexpected paths lead to achievements and directions you would not have reached had you chosen the easier, more comfortable route.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
One of the most significant challenges young professionals face today is the overwhelming abundance of choices available to them. With countless certifications, courses, and career paths, it’s easy to become paralyzed by indecision—much like standing in a store aisle with too many options and walking away empty-handed. My advice to young women embarking on their professional journeys is to seek out internships early on. These opportunities, often available during summer breaks, provide invaluable hands-on experience and a chance to explore different fields without long-term commitment. Building authentic relationships through networking can open doors you never imagined and provide guidance that no course or certification can offer.
By immersing yourself in real-world environments, you can gain clarity about what truly resonates with your passions and strengths. It’s important to be intentional and focused—push yourself to pursue what genuinely excites you rather than scattering your efforts across multiple directions. Remember, your journey is uniquely yours—embrace it with purpose, curiosity, and confidence!
